Getting an accurate and precise semen count is essential in the field of Andrology and human reproduction. The Leja slides with a chamber depth of 10 micron are especially developed for performing semen analysis with human semen. These Leja slides are very well equipped for manual counting procedures. Both slides also work very well in any CASA system. In one assessment, you will be able to perform both sperm cell concentration, motility and viscosity assessments. If the CASA system is equipped with a morphology option, this would also work very well with Leja chambers. As all capillary filled slides, Leja slides will have a Segre-Silberberg effect (a natural occurrence when using any type of capillary filled chamber, this effect causes a constant underestimation of the sperm concentration). It means that after the assessment of the initial sperm concentration the result needs to be multiplied with a certain factor to get the true concentration. The magnitude of this factor depends on chamber depth, dimension of the sperm cells and the viscosity of the sample. Limits of quantification without dilution or concentration: 0.04-400?06/ml.
